Weight before flex. A shaft's weight sets your tempo and your ability to feel where the head is, and it changes strike quality more than the stiffness letter stamped near the grip. Flex designations are not standardized between manufacturers, so an S-flex from one brand can measure softer than another brand's R. What is comparable is measured weight and profile, which is why we list those specs where we have them rather than relying on the label.
Profile matters as much as the headline numbers. A tip-stiff shaft holds spin and launch down for a player who loads the club aggressively; a softer tip helps a smoother swinger get the ball up. Torque affects how much the head twists under load, which shows up as dispersion rather than distance. None of this is visible in a photograph, so ask before you buy and we will tell you what the shaft actually is.
Installation is not an afterthought. A shaft has to be tipped or butt-trimmed to the right playing length, the adapter or ferrule has to be set square, and swing weight has to be rebalanced afterward or the club will feel dead. We install shafts on the bench with proper epoxy cure time and confirm final length, swing weight, and grip alignment before the club goes back in your hands.
NiceDivot is a repair-first workshop, so inventory is a by-product of bench work rather than the main business. Items arrive as trade-ins, customer clear-outs, and shop builds. Before anything appears here it gets cleaned, inspected for structural damage, and measured — length, loft and lie where applicable, swing weight, and grip condition. Anything that fails inspection is repaired or scrapped, not photographed from a forgiving angle.
That is also why the condition language above is deliberately unglamorous. "Good" means it has been played and it shows; "excellent" means light cosmetic wear with performance surfaces intact. We describe the flaws we found so that what arrives matches what you read, because a returned club costs us more than an honest listing ever will.
