Before anything new is discussed, we measure what you already play. Off-the-shelf clubs are engineered for a theoretical average golfer, and sets drift out of spec with normal use — so the first job is finding out exactly what your clubs are doing today. Loft, lie, length, swing weight, and grip size are recorded for every club and compared against what your swing actually needs.
Most of the time the answer is adjustment, not replacement: a few bends, a length change, a reshaft, or a regrip brings the set back in line. Contact becomes more consistent, dispersion shrinks, and distance gaps fall into place — and you leave with a build sheet any competent builder can reproduce.

How the session runs, step by step
We begin at the bench with your current clubs, because what you already play tells us more than a questionnaire will. Length, lie, loft, grip size, and swing weight are measured on every club and written down. It is common to find a set that has drifted a degree or two out of spec from normal use, and a few bends will fix a miss you assumed was your swing.
Next comes ball striking on a lie board with impact tape, which shows exactly where the sole meets the turf and where the face meets the ball. Heel-biased contact and left misses usually point to a lie that is too upright for how you deliver the club; toe wear and pushes point the other way. We bend in single degrees and re-hit until the pattern tightens rather than guessing at a number.
Shafts are then compared by weight, profile, and installed feel rather than the flex letter printed on them, since those labels are not standardized between brands. Once a profile is chosen, tip and butt trim, installed length, and final swing weight are recorded club by club so the set is matched to itself. Grips are sized from hand measurement and finished with the wrap count and texture you prefer — a detail that matters in Charleston humidity, where a slick grip quietly ruins good specs.
You leave with a build sheet listing every final number, plus a short list of what to change now and what can wait. If a shaft breaks or you replace a head later, we can rebuild it to that sheet exactly instead of starting over — which is the whole point of measuring in the first place.
