A driver head is a spring, and the two numbers that decide whether it suits you are loft and shaft. Most golfers buy too little loft because low loft sounds like distance, when in practice a higher-lofted head delivered with a slightly upward strike carries farther for anyone whose clubhead speed sits under about 100 mph. If you are moving from an older head, expect the modern face to feel hotter low on the face — that forgiveness is where the real gain is, not in a headline distance claim.
Check the shaft before you fall in love with the head. Weight matters more than the flex letter printed on it: a 50-gram shaft and a 70-gram shaft in the same stiffness produce completely different tempos and strike patterns. If the shaft in this listing is not what you want, the head is still worth buying — pulling and reinstalling a shaft with an adapter is straightforward bench work, and we can re-shaft it to your spec before you take it home.
Finally, look at the sole and the crown paint rather than the face. Sole scuffing is cosmetic and normal. What you want to rule out is a crown crack near the hosel or a rattling internal weight, both of which we inspect for on every head that comes through the shop before it is listed.
