Fairway woods and hybrids live or die on turf interaction, which is why sole shape matters more here than in any other club. A wide, rounded sole glides and suits sweeping players and softer Lowcountry turf; a shallower, flatter sole digs less but demands a cleaner strike. Look at the wear pattern on the sole of this club — where a previous owner made contact tells you honestly how the head sits and releases through the grass.
Gapping is the other question worth answering before you buy. A fairway wood that carries within ten yards of your driver or your longest iron is a club you will not use. Bring your current carry numbers, or we can measure them, and choose loft so this club fills a real gap rather than duplicating one you already cover.
Length is the quiet variable. Stock fairway woods run long, and many golfers strike a 3-wood far better after half an inch comes off and the swing weight is rebalanced. That is a quick bench adjustment we can make on this club, and it usually does more for consistency than switching models.
NiceDivot is a repair-first workshop, so inventory is a by-product of bench work rather than the main business. Items arrive as trade-ins, customer clear-outs, and shop builds. Before anything appears here it gets cleaned, inspected for structural damage, and measured — length, loft and lie where applicable, swing weight, and grip condition. Anything that fails inspection is repaired or scrapped, not photographed from a forgiving angle.
That is also why the condition language above is deliberately unglamorous. "Good" means it has been played and it shows; "excellent" means light cosmetic wear with performance surfaces intact. We describe the flaws we found so that what arrives matches what you read, because a returned club costs us more than an honest listing ever will.
